Imagine you find yourself stranded in a lifeboat in the middle of the vast ocean, accompanied by an 8-9 year old child. There is no hope of rescue, and you have no other means of escaping the situation. Unfortunately, there is only a limited amount of food on the boat, not enough for both you and the child to survive until reaching the shore.
Now, you face a difficult decision. If you choose to eat the food yourself, the child will die but you may have a chance to reach the shore. On the other hand, if you allow the child to eat the food, you will sacrifice yourself and the child will have a minimal chance of reaching the shore alone. Lastly, if you both consume the limited food, neither of you will survive the journey to the shore.
In this challenging situation, what would you do? Will you prioritize your own survival, sacrifice yourself for the child's sake, or try to find another solution to increase the chances of both of you reaching safety?
